Have you Newly passed your driving test? Congratulations! We would strongly advise you to take the Pass Plus course. Not only it would reduce your insurance premium, it would make you a better and safer driver.
What is Pass Plus?
Pass Plus is a training course of minimum six hours for newly passed drivers. This established course is designed and approved by Driving Standard Agency (DSA). After completion of this course a certificate is awarded by DSA and it is not required to pass a test like the normal driving test.
Who and when one should take a Pass Plus course
If you want you can take Pass Plus course any time. But it is mainly for just-passed drivers, mainly for young drivers. It is advisable to take this course within a year of passing the driving test.

After you successfully complete your Pass Plus course you will be given a certificate by the Driving Standard Agency. You send that certificate to your insurance company to claim a discount on your premium. The amount of money you save by your discounted insurance premium may be more than what you spent on your training. A number of insurance companies offer a better discount to Pass Plus drivers. You can also get a list of names of insurance companies which offer good discount to Pass Plus drivers from your Pass.

Get financial help from your local authorities
A number of local authorities will help you with the cost of your Pass Plus training once you have selected a Pass Plus ADI. Contact your borough, town, city or local council, if they are listed, to find out whether they would help you with your Pass Plus training cost. They can offer you grant up to 50% of the cost of training. The Highland Council Pass Plus Scheme offers up to £125.00.
Become more confident in long distance and motorway driving
It has been seen that a number of drivers having passed their driving test are apprehensive about driving long distance and on motorways. This is because when they learn to drive their instructor does not take the learner to motorway as it is not allowed for learners to be on a motorway. Pass Plus course allows the driver to drive on a motorway and dual carriageway. If you successfully complete Pass Plus course, you will be able to drive confidently and easily on motorways and long distance.
Choosing an instructor for Pass Plus
Please bear in mind that not all driving instructors are able to undertake instructing on Pass Plus course or are not qualified to do so. Pass Plus instructors have to be registered by DSA as a Pass Plus Instructor and have to have ADI green badge.
Ask your driving instructor
Ask your driving instructor from whom you took the driving lessons whether he does Pass Plus driving instruction. Even if he does not do so he can help you to find one. You can also find out about Pass Plus instructors from your local driving school, trade publications, newspaper and website. Also by telephoning DSA Pass Plus Section on 01159366504 you can find out whether your driving instructor is a Registered Pass Plus Instructor. You have to give the name and ADI number of your instructor.
